A Rich history
At the dawn of Louisiana’s oil boom, what began as a regional endeavor evolved into the multi-trillion-dollar global oil and gas industry we know today. Driving this transformation were the Cajuns—one of America’s most distinctive cultures—whom I proudly claim as my heritage.
Cajun entrepreneurs didn’t just participate in this industry; they built it from the ground up. These resilient, French-speaking pioneers steered the boats, worked as roughnecks, and developed properties that laid the foundation for oil and gas operations. They scraped together the means to buy and build their first boats, faced incredible challenges, and fought their way toward success. Their journey was filled with soaring triumphs and heartbreaking setbacks, but through it all, they remained steadfast believers in the American dream.
These trailblazers were both flawed and extraordinary, navigating the rapid evolution of a global industry while simultaneously shaping their culture and pursuing opportunities beyond their wildest imagination.
